“Flower Sajza” is based on personal testimonies of survivors from the Tepelena camp (1945-1959) in Albania, enriched with artistic elements inspired by the works of Agron Tufa, Lekë Pervizi and the academic researches of Kastriot Dervishi.

Tepelena camp was an internment camp used by the People’s Socialist Republic of Albania to imprison the families of the fugitives and deserters. A total of 3380 internees (963 men, 1254 women, 1163 children). 30 dead children in only one night. An average of 7 deaths a day during the first months. These and more unbelievable but real stories shed light on a dark chapter of Albania’s communist past.

A Documentary Performance by a Collective

Festival of Youth is a documentary performance that explores what it means to be young and how different generations in Bulgaria have lived their youth — their dreams, struggles, loves, and coming-of-age moments.

Created by students from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia, the performance is based on documentary stories gathered from four generations: the artists themselves, their parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. The audience is invited to step into these intimate narratives and experience fragments of youth across time.

As in any true festival, there is music, movement, and discovery — a shared journey through memory that ends with a single, resonant question: which generation has lived its youth most fully?

Μια ώρα πριν από ένα κοσμοϊστορικό γεγονός που θα αλλάξει την πορεία της Θεσσαλονίκης. Στον δρόμο για την αντίστροφη μέτρηση, μια γνωστή ραδιοφωνική εκπομπή των ερτζιανών μεταδίδεται εκτάκτως πριν τα μεσάνυχτα, φιλοξενώντας την πιο ζωντανή και δημιουργική σκηνή της Θεσσαλονίκης του σήμερα, που δεν είναι άλλη από τη σκηνή της ραπ και του χιπ χοπ.

Ταυτόχρονα με ένα σύντομο ιστορικό flashback στην καθοδική πορεία της πόλης τα τελευταία 30 χρόνια, θεατές και πρωταγωνιστές θα βρεθούν αντιμέτωποι με γεγονότα και στιγμές που θα εξηγήσουν επαρκώς το συλλογικό της/μας τραύμα.

Συνομιλώντας υπό μορφή live talk με τους εκπροσώπους της ραπ σκηνής που θα ξετυλίξουν το σήμερα, εξηγώντας μέσα από τη δική τους ανάγκη έκφρασης και δημιουργίας τη δυστοπική συνθήκη μιας πόλης που είχε τα εχέγγυα να απογειωθεί όμως… δεν, η παράσταση 2310 κινείται στους ρυθμούς και την καλλιτεχνική συνθήκη του θεάτρου Ντοκουμέντο και διαδραματίζεται στο ιστορικό συγκρότημα διατηρητέων κτιρίων του Ντεπώ, πρώην αμαξοστάσιο των τραμ της Θεσσαλονίκης.

Το Babybird Babybird, ένας προσωπικός χαιρετισμός του σκηνοθέτη στον Ken Loach και στην ταινία του Ladybird Ladybird, εκκινεί από το κεντρικό ερώτημα «γιατί (δεν) κάνουμε παιδιά;» και καλεί υποψήφιους γονείς, μια νέα μητέρα, μια μαία, μια δημογράφο, μια κοινωνιολόγο, έναν νευροεπιστήμονα, μια youtuber-ακτιβίστρια ενάντια στις γεννήσεις και έναν πελαργό να πάρουν θέση στην πιο σέξι οντολογική ερώτηση για την περίπλοκη σχέση της ερωτικής μας ζωής με την αναπαραγωγική μας δυνατότητα. Ένα ζήτημα που απασχολεί σταθερά τη δημόσια σφαίρα, εξαιτίας της ιδεολογικής έλξης που προκαλεί σε εθνικιστικές κορώνες για το μέλλον της χώρας με πρόσχημα το “δημογραφικό”.

Οραματίζομαι το μέλλον, όμως, σημαίνει μιλώ για τους ανθρώπους του μέλλοντος. Στην Ευρώπη των τελευταίων δεκαετιών, ωστόσο, όλο και λιγότεροι άνθρωποι γεννούν όλο και λιγότερα παιδιά. O σκηνοθέτης Δημήτρης Μπαμπίλης και οι επτά ειδικοί επί του θέματος αναρωτιούνται: Τι δείχνουν οι αριθμοί; Σταμάτησαν οι άνθρωποι να κάνουν σεξ; Μήπως όλο και περισσότεροι δεν αποκτούν απογόνους από επιλογή; Πώς οι κοινωνικές κατασκευές εμπλέκονται με τις βιολογικές παρορμήσεις; Κι αν όντως έχουμε «πληθυσμιακό έλλειμμα», γιατί διώκονται όσοι μετακινούνται για μια καλύτερη ζωή;

Η κινηματογραφική εκδοχή του Babybird Babybird, σε σκηνοθεσία Δημήτρη Μπαμπίλη, παρουσιάζεται για πρώτη φορά σε φυσικό χώρο μετά την ψηφιακή της πρεμιέρα στο Onassis Channel στο YouTube, στο πλαίσιο του φεστιβάλ Future N.O.W. 2021 και της συμμετοχής της παράστασης με φυσική παρουσία στα 56α Δημήτρια (Οκτώβριος 2021) και στο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Λευκωσίας (Νοέμβριος 2024).

“Artists Talk” is a performance created to connect the artistic discourse to the public it addresses. It premiered in December 2016 in Bucharest. An artist is an opinion maker thus bears a certain responsibility within his profession. In a world open less and less to dialogue, what are the artistic instruments left to operate with?

The six scenes of the show are inspired by panel discussions I have been a part of, in the country or abroad, during the last two years. Although any resemblance to actual persons is not purely coincidental, the purpose of this fiction is not associating a certain artist to a certain type of discourse. As parts of this system ourselves, we are more interested in understanding the manner in which the (i)responsibility of an artist can ensue from the discourse on his personal approach and the world he lives in.

The performance is held in English, Romanian and French, with English subtitles.

“Demeter Calling” is a concert performance in which an all-female cast from diverse backgrounds, including director Sanja Mitrović, channel voices of sisters dispersed across the gulfs of geography, ethnicity and culture.

Stories of women from different parts of the world are poetically interpreted and translated into songs which question the notion of motherhood as the sole focus of female identity. In the liminal space between a world which has already ended and another yet to begin, they are an unlikely girl band celebrating female strength, resilience and determination to create space for oneself, even among harsh hardships, injustices and hostilities imposed by society.

Inspired by a visit to Elefsina, the site of Eleusianian Mysteries through which the cult of Demeter and Persephone was celebrated in antiquity, Mitrović was moved to consider resonances of this ancient myth with the lives of women today. As if in a trance, Demeter Calling arrives in the form of a contemporary music ritual which continues to call for strength and wisdom in how to live one’s life to its full potential.

New original music by Belgrade-based composer Marija Balubdžić takes as inspiration female chants and rhythms from various Balkan regions, forging them into slivers of glistening electronic avant-pop, broadcast from somewhere decidedly off the radar, otherworldly and resistant to categorisation.

In the early 90’s, the new-born state of Croatia was involved in a military conflict with neighbouring Serbia. One of the innocent victims was Aleksandra Zec, a 12-year old Serbian girl living in Zagreb. She was brutally murdered, alongside her family.  

A quarter-century later, renowned theatre director Oliver Frljic is working on a play about the case. The process brings out the hidden traumas, rehearsals become a collective psychotherapy, and for the twelve-year-old actress Nina, it seems as if the war never ended.
